Digital Proofreader/Editorial Associate for online content produced by professional-services firm

RedStream is searching for a Digital Proofreader/Editorial Associate to support the creation and publication of thought-leadership content on the website of a leading professional-services firm, as well as its dissemination via associated e-mailings and a mobile app.

The person in this role ensures that all digital assets are proofed, formatted properly, adhere to house-style guidelines, and support an optimal user experience. They will also assist in tracking assets and providing project management support for digital and mobile special projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Proofread content, provide a comparative proof upon layout, and approve all new material (text articles, newsletters, charts, infographics, videos, interactive features, and other multimedia) posted to the client website.
  • Proofread and approve content on the iOS and Android app.
  • Proofread and approve e-mailings promoting new content; support email alert testing as needed.
  • Correct errors until final approval of all assets is secured; learn to work in the group's content-management system; coordinate deadlines and responsibilities with Web production staff
  • For issues requiring editorial and/or design judgment, work with editors, designers, and web production staff to arrive at optimal solution, and implement.
  • Track and communicate progress of work; identify and problem-solve any roadblocks to successful, on-deadline task completion.
  • Assist in tracking and communicating the status of digital assets (eg, images) and resolving any delays.
  • For select content, provide SEO tags and/or copy edit, fact-check, and internally syndicate articles.
  • Provide project-management support for special projects such as e-mail testing or content migration.

Required knowledge and skills:

  • Strong copy-editing, proofreading, and critical reading skills a must, as are keen attention to detail and ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks while maintaining high-quality standards.
  • Strong background in a deadline-oriented editorial production environment is preferable, along with a high comfort level and work experience with digital and mobile products. Experience with business-management content or work in a professional-services firm a plus.
  • PC proficiency in a Windows environment including MS Word and Excel.
  • Familiarity with Adobe Acrobat, InDesign, and Illustrator desired.
  • Familiarity with online content management systems (e.g., Sitecore) and e-mailing platforms (e.g., Epsilon/DREAM) a plus.
  • Familiarity with The Chicago Manual of Style.
  • Familiarity with social media apps; able to provide proofing support for social media assets as needed.
  • Short-form writing: there will be opportunities to contribute to curated content bundles and online newsletters; ability to produce lively, engaging short-form content in a quick-turnaround environment a plus.
