RedStream is recruiting a Chemical Engineer to work with one of our clients focusing on analyzing and evaluating various market products.
This role plays a key part in evaluating and driving growth and sustainability opportunities. You will work with teams to guide the creation of our clients’ current and future portfolio as well as driving productivity and innovation across their various functions including engineering, procurement, and product management.
The teams are typically 2 – 3 analysts and experts, responsible for the diagnosis, analysis, and implementation of business initiatives tailored to help improve margins and reduce costs. Working closely with stakeholders is key to establish buy-in and grow capabilities. The ownership of individual work and ability to create impact as an individual is necessary to be successful.
Quintessential analyses include:
- Reverse engineering of products or materials synthesis
- Determination of critical product or materials specifications and feature/attribute comparisons
- Materials and product cost modeling for design and procurement outcomes
This role will provide experience and exposure across several industries including:
- Biologics
- Specialty Materials
- Bulk chemicals
- Advanced materials (e.g., ceramics, carbon fiber, nanomaterials)
- Light/Heavy Industrial
- Medical/Pharmaceutical
This opportunity blends strategic thinking with hands-on practicality, our teams work to develop and implement operational strategies that solve our clients’ most critical problems.
The teams work with client companies with an integrative approach to product development and procurement that considers what customers want, what competitors offer, and what it costs to manufacture and distribute the end-product. The team uses several key tools and software integrated with personal experience to deliver impact across several product development and procurement levers including product matrix optimization, complexity reduction, design for manufacturing/assembly, and commercial excellence.
Skills:
- 2+ years of chemical plant design or process engineering experience preferred; Petro or specialty chemical / plastics industry preferred
- Knowledge and experience with primary unit operations (e.g., reaction, separation, float, milling, filtration, etc) & auxiliary production equipment (e.g., pump, turbine, utilities, etc) involved in large scale of specialty chemical production
- Familiarity with Aspen required. Familiarity with MATLAB and COMSOL preferred.
- Proficient communicator, capable of working in multinational environments, self-motivated
- Willingness/ability to travel, if needed
- Ability to impact individually or as a collaborative member of a team, capable of working well with others but also autonomously with little direction
- Experience in starting projects, manage multiple priorities, and work effectively in the face of ambiguity
- Highly organized and detail-oriented individual
- Excellent presentation skills with a focus on communicating complex ideas clearly
- Creative and strategic thinker with the ability to analyze and synthesize data
- NCEES certificate in the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) or professional engineer (PE) in chemical engineering preferred
Education:
- A bachelor’s degree in chemical, biomolecular, petrochemical or analogous process engineering required; Strong record of academic performance; minimum GPA = 3.4
